Nearly all bacteria on our planet reside in biofilm communities. Biofilms are not only of medical interest due to their enhanced resilience, but also constitute a fascinating model system for studying complex population behavior. My talk will present our latest efforts to uncover the intriguing population-level dynamics that seem to emerge within such simple bacterial communities.
