Jonathan's doctoral work in Prof. Ostroverkhova's Organic Photonics and Electronics group was recognized by the OSU CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award and was entered into a nation-wide competition of PhD theses in the areas of mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering. During his productive 4.5 years at OSU, Jonathan has published 14 research articles, which highlight both his experimental and computational expertise. He led two NSF-funded projects on light-matter interactions in organic semiconductors (in collaboration with Prof. Larry Cheng at OSU EECS and Prof. Matt Graham at OSU Physics) and contributed to another NSF-funded project on development of sustainable fungi-derived materials (in collaboration with Prof. Chong Fang at OSU Chemistry and Prof. Seri Robinson at OSU Wood Science and Engineering). One of Jonathan's articles (published in J. Chem. Phys. (2020)) on photophysics of organic crystals was selected by the Editors as a Feature Article. Jonathan was also an excellent communicator at outreach events and outstanding mentor, supervising five undergraduate researchers and enabling one of his mentee's, Richard Puro, to publish a first-author article in J. Phys. Chem. C, a well-regarded journal in the field.
