OSU Physics Undergraduates Report on 2017 Summer Research
OSU Physics Undergraduate students will report on their exciting 2017 summer research experiences.
1) Mirek Brandt modelled the spectrum of type 1a supernova with Dr. Boaz Katz at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. The code developed was able to predict the evolution of two main spectral features in a real type 1a supernova.
2) Abraham Teklu spent the summer at General Atomics in San Diego working on confinement in the DIII-D tokamak. He modeled plasma interactions with 3D axisymmetric vacuum magnetic fields.
3) Hazel Betz spent the summer in the Fault Isolation and Failure Analysis Laboratory at the Intel campus in Hillsboro Oregon. While there, she analyzed samples with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), designed proof of concept experiments to help improve device probing characteristics, and developed and documented procedures to improve the device probing process.
