Upper division physics majors are invited to learn about the value of physics PhD for industry. Dr. Whitney Shepherd will discuss her work at Intel, why it is so fun and rewarding, and how the physics major has helped her. Biography of Dr. Whitney Shepherd Dr. Shepherd completed her PhD in Physics at Oregon State University in 2012. Her thesis, "Optoelectronic Properties of Organic Semiconductors: From Bulk to Single Molecule", was supervised by Oksana Ostroverkhova. After her PhD, Dr. Shepherd joined the R&D team at Intel, in Hillsboro, OR. Her department, "Logic Technology Development", is responsible for yield on the latest fin-FET process. The department drives and oversees technology development across Intel's global factory operations."
