Theoretical and Methodological Frameworks Towards Justice in PER
As the physics education research community continues to work towards explicit justice-oriented goals, researchers are calling for the use of interdisciplinary methods and transformative theories to challenge dominant narratives and disrupt systems of oppression. In this talk I go over my use of theoretical frameworks, such as Feminist Standpoint Theory and Critical Race Nepantlera Methodologies, as well as methods such as metaphor analysis, poetic inquiry, and participatory methods to address concerns of marginalized people in physics. To conclude, I go over future research centering the experiences of nepantleras/in-betweeners to develop a more nuanced understanding of the ways marginalized individuals negotiate multiple worlds and identities to ultimately transform and make physics spaces more accessible and welcoming.
